  • Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida (License No. MH16448)

EXPERIENCE

I am a bilingual, neurodivergent, Cuban-American therapist with lived experience, trainings, and 10+ years of counseling experience.

I work with children (7+), adolescents, adults, and families of diverse backgrounds in English and Spanish. Over the past decade I have worked in schools, homes, outpatient clinics, a psychiatric hospital, a university counseling center, and private practice. I work with clients from all walks of life and with a variety of presenting concerns, including depression and anxiety, ADHD, autism, "Borderline" personality, parenting/family issues, and issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity.

APPROACH

Life and people are complex-- I believe that there is no "one size fits all" when it comes to therapy. I integrate various theories and modalities of psychotherapy (Schema Therapy, DBT, multicultural feminist therapies, play therapies, to name a few) to inform my work with clients and families.

Traditional psychotherapies focus on the individual self. However, the systems we find ourselves in—whether it be family, school, work, or broader sociopolitical contexts— are just as relevant and important to the individual's functioning and well-being. My goal is to help clients process and contextualize their struggles, differentiate between what belongs to them and what doesn't, and make positive changes that are congruent with their values and authentic selves whenever possible.

I approach the therapeutic relationship as a catalyst for healing and growth. Sessions with me are collaborative and respectful; together, we will develop a unique direction and pace to best suit your needs.
